Dr Enamul Ali BDS, FDS RCS, MBBS
Enamul graduated from King's College London in 1995. He carried out his oral surgery training at various hospitals and then completed his medical training at the St Bart's and the Royal London Hospital in 2003.
He has worked at the London Day Surgery Centre since 2004 and is currently pursuing a career in maxillofacial surgery.
Dr Muntazir Ali BDS
Muntazir Ali BDS is a leading Implantologist who has recently joined the dental team at the London Day Surgery Centre.
Mrs Rochelle Bass
Rochelle has been the Managing Director of the London Day Surgery Centre since it started in 1994.
She has been instrumental in building the clinic from a simple oral surgery unit to the multi-speciality centre it is today.
Mr John Bolger FRCS
Mr John Bolger FRCS heads the Cataract Clinic at LDSC, he has performed over 15,000 successful cataract procedures. John is a peer reviewer for the British Journal of Opthalmology and the Journal of European Society of Cataract and Reflective Surgery and EYE magazine.
Dr Jocelyn AS Brookes MBBS,MRCP,FRCR
Dr Jocelyn Brookes Consultant Vascular Radiologist, has recently joined the London Day Surgery Centre offering a pioneering, new technique for the treatment of varicose veins. The EndoLaser Vein System (ELVeS) is a new laser ablation treatment for varicose veins which does not require surgery.
Mrs Sue Fennell MSc RN
Sue is the manager of the Cataract Clinic at the London Day Surgery Centre. She qualified as a registered nurse in 1967 at Guy's Hospital, London. She became a theatre sister in the NHS at St. Albans and subsequently commissioned theatres for BUPA Hospital Harpenden. She has been a senior manager in the health service before coming to the Cataract Clinic at the London Day Surgery Centre.
Mr Mike Gaukroger BDS MBBS FDS FRCS
Mike is a local NHS consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He qualified in dentistry in 1977 (Kings College London) and in Medicine in 1985 (Charing Cross Hospital). He trained as a registrar in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the London Hospital then at Kings and St Georges where he was subsequently appointed as Lecturer/ Hon.Senior Registrar. In 1994 he was appointed as a Consultant at Chase Farm Hospital and now works at both Barnet and Chase Farm hospitals. He provides a wide variety of experience in surgical dentistry with a particular interest is in surgery for dentofacial deformity working closely with local specialist orthodontists.
Mr Richard Greenwood BDS MB ChB FDS RCS (Eng)
Richard Greenwood graduated from the Royal Dental Hospital in December 1965. Following a House Officer post at the Queen Elizabeth, Birmingham he commenced medical studies and graduated in May 1971. Following pre-registration he obtained the FDS RCS (Eng) in February 1973 and then commenced registrar and lectureship posts in the Birmingham area. He then moved to Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge as a Senior Registrar.
In May 1979 he moved to Canada where he became Associate Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Manitoba, Health Science Centre, Winnipeg. He became chairman of the residency training programme and co-founder of the Winnipeg Surgical Centre.
He returned home to the UK in 1990 and worked as a Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery for the Ministry of Defence. The closure of all but one of the military hospitals in 1995 saw him move to the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford for 14 months and then the opportunity of forming the team at the London Day Surgery Centre became available which he gladly accepted.
Dr David Grimes BChD MFDS RCS (Eng)
David Grimes graduated from Leeds Dental Institute in 1995. He has experience in both General Dental Practice and Hospital settings including Kings College Hospital, Guys and Queen Margaret's in Sidcup. Having gained the MFDS in 2004 he joined the London Day Surgery Centre in 2005. He is now reading medicine at St. George's Medical School.
Dr Vicky Jolliffe MBBChir MA (Cantab) MRCP (UK) FRCS (Ed) MRCGP
Dr Vicky Jolliffe qualified in Medicine from Cambridge University and St. Mary's Hospital, Paddington. She completed her Dermatological training at the Royal Free and Royal London hospitals, and is a Senior Lecturer and Honorary Consultant Dermatologist at the Royal London Hospital.
She deals with all aspects of skin disease, including pigmented lesions, eczema, psoriasis and medical dermatology and has a special interest in managing acne. She undertakes surgical excisions of skin lesions including both benign and malignant lesions. She is involved in the teaching of Dermatology at PostGraduate level as Course Director for the Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Dermatology (University of London).
Mrs Wendy Kos RGN, ITEC, Cert Ed
Wendy qualified as a Registered General nurse from the Luton & Dunstable Hospital in 1982. She gained experience in Recovery, Intensive Care and Neurology before undertaking a Beauty Therapy course in 1986. She was offered a teaching post and studied for a teaching qualification from Hatfield University in 1987. She gained experience working in a beauty salon in Temple Fortune and teaching at West Herts College in Watford.
The combination of Nursing, beauty therapy and teaching easily led to her full time position of Medical Aesthetic Practitioner at the London Day Surgery Centre, where she advises and helps people to achieve the very best of their potential.
She specialises in the use of dermal fillers for lines, wrinkles and lip augmentation, skin products, red vein removal, skin peels and skin lesion removal.
Mrs Gemma Koster
Gemma is our Head Dental Nurse who qualified in 1998 and has worked here for over 10 years. She has attended continual professional development courses in IV sedation, implants, day surgery and basic life support.
Mrs Shirley McDonnell
Shirley is the accounts manager and has been part of the team for 3 years. Trained and qualified as an accountant working in the West End of London. She decided on a career change and was a practice manager of a local dental practice for 2 years before joining the London Day Surgery Centre. She has vast experience working in a medical environment and is always on hand to help with enquiries.
Mr Jason Nandlal FCPodS
As an NHS-trained Consultant Podiatric (foot) Surgeon, Mr Nandlal currently holds two NHS Consultant Posts. He also works in the private sector in North London. As such he has performed over 4000 foot and ankle procedures and feels it is very important that patients are made aware that the foot is a unique and complex mechanical structure. Operating on any foot deformity, whether for foot pain or cosmesis, requires a complete understanding of foot biomechanical function, which is essential for excellent post-operative results. This highly specialised area using biomechanical principles is unique and integral to the training of Podiatric Surgeons.
Mr Mark Ornstein MBChB,FRCS
A general surgeon with over twenty years' experience operates both with general and local anaesthetic and will explain the advantages and disadvantages of each approach when you see him.
At the London Day Surgery Centre he operates on hernias, varicose veins, breast lumps, haemorrhoids, vasectomies, ingrowing toe nails, skin cancers and skin moles, cysts and swellings. Some conditions, such as haemorrhoids, may not need surgery and Mr Ornstein will advise accordingly. Consultations can be arranged at the London Day Surgery Centre or at Harley Street, London W1.
He also sees patients with 'non-operative' conditions like abdominal pain, constipation, breast pain or swellings, recurrent urinary infections and prostate trouble. It is best if patients are referred by their general practitioners. Urgent and emergency consultations can be arranged.
Mr Kalpesh S Patel BSc (Hons) FRCS (ORL)
Mr Kalpesh Patel FRCS, Consultant Ear Nose and Throat Surgeon joined The London Day Surgery Centre in 2005 and has enhanced the range of conditions which the Centre is able to treat as day cases. Mr Patel is Senior Lecturer in ENT surgery at Imperial College of Science and Technology and Medicine as well as holding clinics at St Mary's and Ealing Hospitals.
Mr Patel's clinics take place on Monday mornings and offers patients in North London easy and rapid access for the expert diagnosis, treatment and management of a wide range of ENT conditions.
Mrs Chloe Randall-Duggan BA Hons
Chloe gained a degree in marketing which she completed at London Metropolitan University. She previously headed up the marketing team at BriteSmile UK and also worked freelance for a year as a PR consultant. She is currently Rochelle Bass' PA and Office Manager.
Dr William Scott BDS, MSc M Clin Dent (Endodontics)
After graduating from the University of Dundee and working for a number of years in general dental practice, William Scott obtained an MSc in restorative dentistry and completed a two year M Clin Dent in Endodontics. As a result he is well versed in all major endodontic treatments and surgical techniques. This particular branch of dentistry is concerned with the human dental pulp (the soft tissue between the tooth's outer enamel and the dentin) and periradicular tissues - including the prevention and treatment of diseases and injuries of the pulp and associated periradicular conditions.
Ms Debbie Timberlake ITEC, DipSEEDArom, FHT, BTEC Debbie Timberlake has been a practicing Clinical Aromatherapist for 18 years. For 5 years she was Aromatherapy Specialist at ChampneyÕs Health Resort and teaches Clinical Aromatherapy internationally.
Having completed a BTEC qualification in Laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL), Debbie treats rosacea, acne, thread veins and pigmented skin lesions as well as carrying out laser and IPL hair removal. She also offers microdermabrasion and prescriptive facial treatments for both rejuvenation and to treat problem skins.
Dr. Malcolm Torz BDS
Malcolm Torz qualified from King's College School of Medicine and Dentistry in 1990. His hospital experience was gained at St.George's Hospital, Tooting, Kings College Hospital and Edgware and Barnet General Hospital. After a short spell in general dental practice the opportunity arose to help start the oral surgery referral service in 1994 which has now become the London Day Surgery Centre in North Finchley.
His practice has expanded to include implant surgery, oral surgery, tooth whitening, and BOTOX¨ as well as an interest in skin laser treatments. In early 2000, Malcolm was the first person to report the successful treatment of acne with the N-Lite laser, a discovery then taken up for research which was published in The Lancet. Another new laser treatment that Malcolm has started to practice is Tattoo Removal.
Our Nurses
Niki, Sian, Caryn, Beverley and Veronika have worked at the London Day Surgery Centre for years. Their smiling faces and happy demeanour speeds up the healing process for us all.
