Oral Surgery> Implants

For restorative, reconstructive or cosmetic needs, dental implants can give the patient new teeth that look and function just like the natural original. They will allow the patient to regain the ability to eat anything and smile with complete confidence. They will also help preserve facial contours by preventing the degenerative bone shrinkage which occurs when teeth are missing.

Implant treatment for one or even several missing teeth has distinct advantages over other methods of tooth replacement. For reasons of comfort, eating practicality and avoidance of that 'hollow' facial look, full or partial denture wears are particularly attracted to the restorative results which are possible.

Permanence of fitting and chewing strength are the critical advantages over tooth- supported bridges which can also require often very uncomfortable, invasive re-modeling of adjacent healthy tooth structure.

What are Dental Implants?

Dental Implants are small, tissue-compatible titanium fixtures, which are inserted into the jawbone. After a period of natural bonding, the implants serve as the 'root' anchor for new superstructure crowns bridges or dentures.

Assessing Patient Suitability

Not all patients are suitable for implant treatment. An initial clinical examination of your gums, teeth and jawbones plus x-rays will be required to evaluate suitability and type of procedure necessary.

Following that, a comprehensive cost quotation will be prepared. It should be noted that the treatment stages typically take some six to eight months and could last up to two years.

Planning your treatment

The treatment can be carried out by the London Day Surgery Centre on a surgery-only basis- where your own dentist will be involved in the planning and building of the superstructure crown or bridgework.

Alternatively, we can execute the whole process, with our surgeon working in close consultation with our restorative specialists. Only private patients are treated.
